Ferroalloys, metal alloys based on iron and other elements, are used on a large scale in the steel industry to give steel specific properties and characteristics.
Main elements of ferroalloys:
- Manganese: increases the hardness, toughness and wear resistance of steel.
- Silicon: promotes the deoxygenation and fluidity of steel, improving its workability.
- Chrome: increases resistance to corrosion and high temperatures.
- Nickel: improves the toughness and ductility of steel.
- Titanium: increases resistance to corrosion and high temperatures.
- Molybdenum: stabilises the structure of steel and improves its resistance to corrosion.
Ferroalloy prices

The prices quoted do not claim to be official, but are a useful contribution to market knowledge. All operators in the sector can participate in this service as "contributors" who, in an absolutely confidential manner, wish to provide data and/or comments.
The latest weekly data are presented in a summary table. For each ferroalloy, a detail page with historical quotations is available. For each available date, the price range is indicated as well as the absolute and percentage change compared to the previous quotation. The quotations converted into euros and per tonne are also shown.
