The strategic importance of ferrous and non-ferrous
The raw materials used in the furniture industry are many: from ferrous to non-ferrous metals, from wood to plastic and vary according to the type of finished product. In particular, among the ferrous and non-ferrous metals, we find:
- Steel: used for supporting structures, table legs, beds and chairs, as well as decorative elements. Stainless steel, in particular, is prized for its corrosion resistance and aesthetic appearance.
- Cast iron: used for the production of decorative elements, such as railings, balustrades and pedestals, due to its ductility and ability to take on complex shapes.
- Aluminium: light and corrosion-resistant, Aluminium is used for furniture profiles, handles, frames and decorative elements.
- Brass: known for its warm colour and ease of workmanship, brass is used for the production of handles, knobs, hinges and other furniture accessories.
- Copper: prized for its aesthetic appearance and antibacterial properties, Copper is used to make decorative elements such as lamps, vases and furnishings.
